Working Paper on Privacy in Public and Social Media Intelligence

A working paper from Professor Lilian Edwards and me is now  online at SSRN.com. It is titled:

“Privacy in Public Spaces: What Expectations of Privacy Do We Have in Social Media Intelligence?”

This paper has developed over time, drawing on a range of things, from my earlier LL.M work on state surveillance of social media to a paper we gave at Surveillance and Society Conference in Barcelona last year. It has adapted along the way, taking stock of developments in the area of OSINT and SOCMINT, in particular, the growth of big data analytics in policing.
